HATS FOR STAGE AND SCREEN

Sally has over 20 years of experience of working closely with Costume Designers, Wardrobe Heads, and Costume Supervisors to create headwear for opera, ballet, and theatre companies, television, and film. Each piece is made with great attention to detail and a very high level of professional finish.

After an Honours Degree in Jewellery, Sally trained in couture millinery under Rose Cory, production millinery under Mitzi Lorenz, and theatrical millinery at The Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Angels, and also with Jane Smith.

She works freelance, working with companies such as Scottish Opera - making hats for over 30 of their productions including Falstaff, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, The Mikado, The Magic Flute and The Gondoliers, working with designers including Sir David McVicar, John MacFarlane, Simon Higlett and Dick Bird.

Other clients include The BBC - Gormenghast; Scottish Ballet - A Streetcar Named Desire, The Scandal at Mayerling; The Royal Lyceum Theatre -  The Bondagers; and the Netflix hits The Princess Switch - Switched Again, and A Castle For Christmas.

Sally has also created promotional headpieces for events and advertising campaigns including Links of London, Musselburgh Racecourse, and Visit Scotland.
